We are currently inviting applications from enthusiastic and independent
post-doctoral candidates to join the project:
Role and function of the Fra-1/AP-1 oncogenic transcription factor in metastatic breast cancer
Project: The Fra-1 protein is a component of the ubiquitous family of AP-
1/(Fos-Jun) transcriptional complexes, which exerts major roles in
physiology and pathology. It is abnormally overexpressed in
hyperphosphorylated forms in the so-called Triple Negative Breast Cancers
(TNBCs), where it plays a key role in aggressiveness and metastasis.
Thereby, it participates to the dismal prognosis of these cancers. Despite
its well established biological importance in TNBCs (as well as in other
epithelial cancers), neither its target genes nor the mechanisms whereby it
transcriptionally controls their expression have been studied in detail.
Therefore, the proposed project aims at elucidating the transcriptional
actions of Fra-1 in TNBC pathology. It is based on recent genome-wide
transcriptomic and genomic data and involves the study of epigenetic
modifications of chromatin incuding by post-translational modifiers of the
SUMO family.
Candidate: The candidate must hold a PhD degree in Life Sciences with,
preferably a solid background in transcription, post-translational
modifications and molecular biology. Skills in epigenomics, cell signaling
and bioinformatics will be a plus.
Fellowship: The project is funded by the EpiGenMed Laboratory of
Excellence (https://www.epigenmed.fr) for 2 years. Applications for a
longer stay are possible. The position is immediately available.
Host institute: The Institute of Molecular Genetics of Montpellier (IGMM;
http://www.igmm.cnrs.fr) is a dynamic research institute located on one
of the two CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research) campus
of Montpellier (> 500 persons working in life sciences and biomedical
research). It offers state-of-the-art equipments and all technological
facilities required by the project and constitutes an excellent environment
for high quality and intensive scientific life and training. Montpellier is a
major area of the French research in Life Sciences. It is also a highly lively
city located in a beautiful region on the French Mediterranean coast.
