A highly motivated candidate is invited to join the group of Dr. Marco Barchi as a Ph.D. student. The group study the Mechanisms of DNA damage repair in male meiotic germ cells and germ cell tumours. In this project we will analyze the role of SPO11 protein in double strand breaks formation and chromosome segregation in male meiotic cells. This post will involve manipulating male germ cells to identify the specific function of SPO11 splice variants in meiosis. The project will make use of different knock-in and knock-out mice models developed in the lab.

Students should have basic knowledge of the meiotic process. Is desirable experience in the following techniques: molecular biology, bioinformatics, ChIP, western blotting, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence.

She/he is expected to be active in developing the project and contribute to an enthusiastic working atmosphere.
