Independent Group Leader in Plant Sciences

The Chair for Plant Systems Biology (Prof. Dr. Claus Schwechheimer) at the Technical University of Munich invites applications for the position of an
Independent Group Leader in Plant Sciences

The successful candidate will perform independent cutting edge research in the field of plant cell biology, plant biochemistry and/or systems biology. The research theme is open and interactions are expected with research groups and research themes at the Chair for Plant Systems Biology, the Department of Plant Sciences at the Technical University of Munich and/or the Sonderforschungsbereich 924 "Molecular mechanism regulating yield and yield stability in plants."

The ETN UbiCODE is looking for 13 highly motivated PhD students to integrate 11 European research institutions.
Our consortium aims to explore multiple aspects of the Ubiquitin CODE regulation using distinct models.

This PhD programme offers a strong interdisciplinary training through research projects in the area of post-genomic biology. We use a combined computational and experimental approach supported by theoretical modelling, rooted in theoretical physics, engineering and mathematics. The full integration between biomedicine and exact sciences is the ground of contemporary approaches to complex biological systems.

PhD student position

A 4-year graduate student position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Gerasimos Sykiotis in the Service of Endocrinology, Diabetology and Metabolism, Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV), Lausanne, Switzerland:

The position is funded by the Swiss authorities in conjunction with participation in COST Action CA16112 NutRedOx:

The student will be immatriculated in the Life Sciences Program of the Doctoral School of the Faculty of Biology and Medicine at the University of Lausanne.

Topic: "Impact of redox-active natural substances on thyroid pathophysiology."

Il Prof. Michele Morgante e il Dott. Emanuele De Paoli - Istituto di Genomica Applicata e Dipartimento di Scienze Agroalimentari, Ambientali e Animali - Università degli Studi di Udine, segnalano la disponibilità di 15 Borse di Dottorato Internazionali nell'ambito del Progetto Europeo Epidiverse (Epigenetic Diversity In Ecology).

EpiDiverse - Epigenetic Diversity in Ecology - is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network aimed at the study of epigenetic variation in wild plant species. This network joins academic groups from ecology, molecular (epi)genetics and bioinformatics with life science companies to explore epigenetic mechanisms and their adaptive relevance in natural plant populations.

TIGEM: position for a PhD Student

Unraveling the molecular bases of inherited retinal disorders

Inherited retinal dystrophies (IRDs) represent one of the most frequent causes of genetic blindness in the western world and an important burden for national health systems. The most frequent and severe forms are Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), Leber Congenital Amaurosis (LCA), macular dystrophies (MD) and cone and cone-rod dystrophies (CD and CRD, respectively). All of these conditions display a very high genetic heterogeneity with over 150 responsible genes identified to date.
