Post-doctoral position in “Tuberculosis Drug Discovery” in the laboratory of Molecular Microbiology at the University of Pavia

  • 04 Nov 2019

We are looking for a highly motivated and self-driven postdoctoral researcher to add to our Molecular Microbiology Unit at the Department of Biology and Biotechnology "Lazzaro Spallanzani" at the University of Pavia (Italy). The position corresponds to a 1 year-fellowship ("Assegno di ricerca di tipo B"), possibly renewable for 6 years and available from the beginning of 2020 (most probably February-March 2020).

Our Unit has a recognized experience in the study of the mechanism of action and of resistance of new antitubercular drugs. Tuberculosis remains the leading cause of mortality due to a bacterial pathogen, Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Moreover, M. tuberculosis drug-resistant strains are becoming a threat to public health worldwide. Consequently, in this new Project (funded by European Commission) we will study the mechanism of action of new promising compounds with antitubercular activity using microbiological, genetic and biochemical approaches.

Strongly motivated candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Microbiology (or similar) and demonstrated expertise in bacteriology, molecular biology and biochemistry. The candidate is expected to work indipendently and integrated with the other people in the group. Experience in tuberculosis research field is a bonus as well as the availability to work with M. tuberculosis in BLS3 laboratory. Otherwise, willingness to work in BSL-3 is mandatory.

Applicants are invited to submit their Curriculum Vitae, including list of publications, and contact information of two referees to:
